I've tried to make the book an easy read and practical. It's full of examples. There is some theory, enough to back up arguments in favour of this or that scale/chord change/chord sequence.The book consist of transcriptions of notes that I've kept over the years, but really focuses on my more recent deliberations on the choice of alternative minor, major and dominant scales. My partiality for these alternate scale/chords has changed my playing from a purely diatonic style and has opened the door to a new world of chromaticism. In the process I've doubled the available scale/chord choices giving me greater scope and versatility. Really!

BEBOP ELEMENTS.
For those who want to add a little 'ba ba re-be-bop' to their swing style !
There are certain elements of bebop which are quite striking: those unfinished phrases, for instance and those flighty triplets. If you're at a stage in your playing, like I am, where a little inspiration wouldn't go amiss, then some bebop tricks of the trade may be the answer.

The notes in this book are the result of my attempt to update my own tired swing style. So what's wrong with swing, you ask. I love swing music but ever so often I want to leave the safe confines of the swing style and venture out a bit, borrow a few ideas from here and there in order to recharge my own playing, give it a bit of an edge . If you're reading this book, then, I can only guess that you're ready for an injection of 'ba ba re bop'. On the other hand, you may find bebop fascinating enough to study further. This book will, I hope, serve as a useful introduction. 102 pages.
